This workshop explores how Project-Based Learning (PBL) can be used to integrate language instruction with social studies, science, and other content areas, fostering both content knowledge and language proficiency in multilingual classrooms. Participants will learn how to design interdisciplinary PBL units that promote comprehensible input and output through authentic, inquiry-based tasks.
One of the biggest challenges for novice learners of Mandarin Chinese is learning Chinese characters. The task of learning a language with thousands of unique and distinct characters can be daunting for students who are used to an alphabet. In this interactive session, participants will get to try a variety of activities that make learning reading and writing Chinese characters fun and exciting.
The use of AI in language teaching and learning has become a popular topic of discussion among educators. In this presentation, the presenter will introduce how she uses ChatGPT to design prompts that enhances a variety of class activities, discussions, projects, and assessments. The presenter will also introduce other functions of ChatGPT in her use of various class tasks.
